How to Move a Window to Another Monitor on Windows 11

If you’re using a PC with a multi-monitor setup on Windows 11, sometimes you need to move an open application window back and forth between different monitors. This article will show you the easiest way to do that.

Extend Mode

To move open windows between multiple monitors on Windows 11, you will need to use a special multi-monitor mode called “Extend“,  which allows you to extend your ability to work on all screens available.

To enable this feature, first press the Windows + P key combination to open the “Project” menu. On the menu that appears, click “Extend“.

Click on “Extend”

It’s important to note that some games that support multiple monitors will have their own multi-monitor setup options. Make sure you check your game’s settings for display options after switching to Windows’ Extend mode, which helps ensure everything is working properly.

Move windows between monitors with the mouse

Now that you are in Windows 11 Extend mode, you can easily move an application window between two or more monitors with your mouse. Click the title bar of the window you want to move and drag it to the edge of the screen, towards the target screen. When the window touches the edge of the first monitor, it will also begin to appear on the other monitor. Release the mouse when the application window has stopped at the position you want.

Repeat this process with the other windows you want to move.

Move windows between screens by using the keyboard

In Windows 11, you can instantly move an open window to another screen with handy keyboard shortcuts without using a mouse. Here’s how to do it:

To move a window to the left side of the current screen, press Windows + Shift + Left Arrow.

To move a window to the right side of the current screen, press Windows + Shift + Right Arrow.

This method of using keyboard shortcuts works on all monitors that you have connected to your PC.

I wish you a good experience with your multi-monitor PC!
