Warning or notification that “Local Security protection is off” may appear after installing “Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus antimalware platform – KB5007651. The company warned that after turning on security measures, Windows machines may repeatedly warn that a restart is necessary.
For the uninitiated, last week saw the release of KB5007651 for Windows 11 versions 22H2 and older, with the intention of fixing known security issues.
After installing the update, many users reported that the Windows 11 Security app was no longer functioning properly.
Microsoft’s admission of the problem is encouraging because it suggests the company is already working on a solution.
According to Microsoft, users can safely ignore or dismiss warning notifications and ignore any security alerts as long as they have enabled Local Security Authority (LSA) protection and restarted their device at least once.
How to fix Windows Security app arning bug
Microsoft has begun developing a solution, and precautions have been taken to lessen the impact in the meantime. However, if you’d rather not see the caution in the Windows Security app, we’ve laid out the steps you need to take:
